With an area of over 5,600 hectares, the lake of Cazaux-Sanguinet holds a proud second listing in the ranks of largest lakes of France, just after the lake of Hourtin-Carcans. It is situated about 10 kilometres south of the Basin of Arcachon, and a mere 2 kilometres out of the Atlantic coast.
The lake is divided between the departments of Gironde (33) and Landes (40), and borders on the towns of Cazaux in the north (department of Gironde), Sanguinet in the east (department of Landes), and Biscarosse in the south. Beach of Peyroutas
The yachting port Completely surrounded with forests, one of which is the magnificent 'user-forest' of La Teste, the lake of Cazaux is also famous for its clean air.
