With its length of 16 kilometres and its width of almost 4 kilometres, the lake of Hourtin-Carcan will impress any visitor with its vastness and its well preserved natural environment.

Although still very wild, especially the eastern and western parts, the banks of the lake also boast some holiday resorts such as the village of Hourtin, and the village of Carcans-Maubuisson, as well as the famous sports and recreation area of Bombannes.
